FOTC Members to Speak at Cabling & Network Standards Summit
Members of the TIA’s Fiber Optics Technology Consortium (FOTC) will speak on a panel discussion at the upcoming Cabling & Network Standards Summit. Jointly sponsored by TIA and Cabling Installation & Maintenance Magazine, the Summit will take place on May 9th, 2018 at TIA’s headquarters in Arlington, Va. Attendees of the Summit will leave with an up-to-date understanding of standards developments which will help them stay compliant with customer requirements. Register here.
Four FOTC members, Paul Manley (AFL), James Young (CommScope), Robert Reid (Panduit) and Patrick VanVickle (Sumitomo) will speak on the following panel:
The data center is the nucleus of many business operations, and accordingly, facilitates massive amounts of computing and networking functions. This multi-part, panel-style presentation provides comprehensive information on networking and cabling standards (published and under development) that enable specifiers, designers, managers and owners of data center networks to satisfy computing requirements and maintain compliance with industry standards. Part 1 will cover fiber-optic standards and technologies including the TIA-942-B standard, OM5 multimode optical fiber, multifiber connectivity (FOCIS-18-A and FOCIS-5-A standards), and other connector interface standards. It will weave together fiber-optic cabling standards with IEEE's corresponding Ethernet standards.
FOTC members are leading fiber cable, component and electronics companies including AFL, CommScope, Corning, EXFO, Fluke Networks, General Cable, Legrand/Ortronics, OFS, Panduit, The Siemon Company, Sumitomo Electric Lightwave, Superior Essex and Viavi. Our mission is to provide vendor neutral information about the use of fiber in enterprise networks, data centers and other venues. Visit the FOTC at www.tiafotc.org.
The FOTC is part of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). TIA represents manufacturers and suppliers of global communications networks through standards development, policy and advocacy, business opportunities, market intelligence, and events and networking. TIA enhances the business environment for broadband, mobile wireless, information technology, networks, cable, satellite and unified communications.
