Electronic Serial Numbers to Be Exhausted in Early 2008
TIA acts as the Administrator for Electronic Serial Numbers (ESNs) used as unique identifiers in cellular mobile sets (CDMA, TDMA/AMPS). ESNs have been assigned since the early 1980s and will be exhausted in early 2008. The effects of exhaust are discussed in a TIA White Paper on the subject.   More >>


Net Neutrality Legislation Debated in House Committee
On Tuesday, May 6, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet held a hearing on HR 5353, the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008, authored by Subcommittee Chairman Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Rep. Chip Pickering (R-Miss.).The panel was evenly split in terms of their view of the legislation that would establish in law a national broadband policy.  More >>
