The audit figures are in from this year's inaugural NXTcomm trade show and convention, and they're extremely strong.
According to the final attendance audit performed by Exhibit Surveys, Inc., of Red Bank, N.J., NXTcomm attracted 15,273 attendees to its debut at Chicago's McCormick Place on June 18-21, with some 500 exhibitors occupying over 200,000 square feet of exhibit space. "The success of NXTcomm 2007 was underscored midway through the show, when 81 percent of the 2007 exhibit floor was rebooked for NXTcomm 2008 in Las Vegas," said NXTcomm Executive Director Wayne Crawford.
Nearly 450 journalists and independent analysts attended, and industry members generated over 480 annoucements and press releases from the show, with coverage driven by Randall Stephenson's first keynote as chairman and CEO of AT&T, a video Q-and-A with Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin, and addresses by Verizon Communications CEO Ivan Seidenberg, Motorola CEO Ed Zander, GE Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Bob Wright, and Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers. The media presence was led, of course, by CNBC's Maria Bartiromo, who hosted her daily show from the NXTcomm floor and interviewed TIA President Grant Seiffert and his USTelecom counterpart Walter McCormick.
"We think the 2007 audit proves that NXTcomm, the one show the industry has wanted, has arrived," Crawford said in a statement last week. In the months to come, we intend to reach out to current and potential exhibitors, develop excellent conference programming and recruit business leaders as keynotes who are challenging the industry status quo."
Watch for an even bigger and better NXTcomm next year, June 16-19, 2008, in Las Vegas. Go to www.NXTcommShow.com for more information.
