GENBAND is a leading supplier of next generation IP gateway and application solutions. Headquartered in Plano, Texas, GENBAND has research and development facilities in Texas, China, and India.
Charles D. Vogt became President and CEO of GENBAND in September 2004. Since joining GENBAND, Vogt’s vision and leadership have led GENBAND to become one of the leading gateway infrastructure and multimedia application providers in our industry today. With two decades of executive tenure, Vogt is a recognized veteran of the telecommunications industry and has been instrumental in the operational and financial growth of five standard setting start-ups that have all become either public companies or have been acquired. Prior to joining GENBAND, he was President and CEO of Taqua, which was acquired by Tekelec in March 2004. During his tenure as President and CEO of Taqua, he led Taqua through one of the most challenging telecom environments to become the industry’s leader in next-generation Class 5 packet switching.
Before joining Taqua, Vogt held executive leadership positions at Santera Systems (acquired by Tekelec), Accelerated Networks (IPO, then merged with Occam Networks), and Ascend Communications (IPO, then acquired by Lucent Technologies). Earlier in his career, he held sales executive positions at ADTRAN, Motorola, and IBM. Vogt holds a B.S in Economics and Computer Science from Saint Louis University, where he also played Division I baseball. Vogt serves on the board of directors of Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS), Comptel, Kentrox, and The Chief Executive Network.

Understanding the challenges faced by both incumbents and new service providers in the fixed, cable and mobile markets, GENBAND is focused on providing application and gateway solutions that create clear service differentiation and economic value. These solutions are not simply focused on enabling voice – GENBAND’s portfolio of solutions accelerates service providers beyond voice to efficient networks that migrate to IMS and valued services that attract and retain customers.
- Fixed network -- GENBAND offers a variety of market-proven solutions to achieve revenue growth, cost containment, and network migration objectives for fixed operators. Solutions that drive revenue growth include Advanced IP Voice and Multimedia Services like Hosted IP PBX, Class 5 Derived Voice over Broadband to allow Class 5 local exchanges to control voice services over packet access networks, and highly scalable Unified Communications, Next Generation IN, and Prepaid services. Operators' cost containment objectives are achieved with GENBAND's IP Trunking solutions that enable the efficient packetization of core and access networks. In addition, GENBAND continues its leadership in enabling the migration of legacy fixed line networks to next generation, IMS-centric architectures, with the assurance provided by Emergency Stand Alone capabilities.
- Cable networks -- GENBAND's products provide an array of solutions for cable operators and are at the heart of some of the world’s largest Cable VoIP networks. Solutions include Advanced IP Voice services that allow cable/MSOs to quickly attract rich business and residential market customers and expand video into telephony applications; Class 5 Derived Voice over Cable to provide low cost, quick-to-market Class 5 control over HFC networks; PacketCable qualified IP Trunking solutions to improve network efficiencies; Commercial Cable Services to enable valuable business T1/E1/PRI services over HFC plant; and a full complement of Emergency Stand Alone, Unified Communications, and Prepaid service options.
- Mobile network providers -- Across the world, GENBAND's products are used to increase the competitiveness and value of mobile solutions for operators and their customers. The Distributed MSC Gateway solution provides a widely-proven, carrier grade capability to replace expensive legacy MSCs with much more efficient, packet-based infrastructures that can also drive the next generation of IMS-centric mobile services. GENBAND's IP Trunking solution enables cost-effective packet core trunking in mobile networks while laying a foundation for eventual MSC replacement. In addition, GENBAND provides a rich set of IMS-centric Unified Communications, NGN IN, and Prepaid solutions to advance mobile operators' service and network offerings.

GENBAND’s Call Jump solution allows users the flexibility to communicate on the go. This solution provides users the ability to silently ”jump” an active call to and from any phone, no matter whether the phone service is operated by one or multiple providers.
Enterprise users who participate in conference calls, customer calls and internal company calls can use GENBAND’s Call Jump solution to move or transfer an active call silently between their office and a mobile phone as they move between meetings, go to the fax/copy machine, printer or just walk around the manufacturing floor.
SOHO and consumers can use Call Jump’s flexibility in silently moving an active call between their home and a mobile phone as they take the kids to soccer practice, run errands or commute to work.
Provided with GENBAND's M6 Communications Application Server, the Call Jump solution provides:
